I use bank transfer a lot and no you can't get your money back. If you're buying something from someone I'd use paypal...0 -

Bank transfer is safe. But not as safe as credit card or paypal0

Haha, no as far as i am aware he is in coventry
Is there anyway of being able to make sure that he is legitemate (sp), He claims to be proper but i am unsure...0 -
Right, so i could not get my money back if he is a scammer
Here is the email i sent him and the one i got back from him, does this sound like a scammer,

July 6th at 10:53 Mark as SpamHiya,
I am a uk based reseller of Genuine Apple iPhones.
I have been selling them for a long time now.
I do single and bulk and now have an accountant due to high volumes i supply.
I currently have a sale on at the moment, and its a Genuine Apple iPhone 3G 16GB Offically Unlocked with warranty handset uk spec, for £150. This includes next day uk delivery.
I provide my name, address and bank info for security,i never let anyone down as you may tell friends i supply these.
I unfortunately dont accept paypal anymore after a idiot tried using a fake credit card on me.
Please text or call me on 07521956540 for a genuine deal if you would like one.
Thanks,

Fake credit card?
Thats BS... how can you use a fake credit card through paypal?
Surely paypal checks the numbers and cross refs with addresses.0 -
Sounds fake. AFAIK there is no such thing as an "officially" unlocked iphone.
On a slightly related issue, we (at work) tried to buy some UPS systems recently, with a bank transfer, but the bank didn;t pay the full amount, they were £26 short, or thereabouts. MUPPETS0 -
Yes you can get sim free iphones, or can be unlocked by o2, my dad thinks it looks alright but not great and is a little wary. I really have no way of prooving he is the real deal :?0

you can't use a fake credit card with paypal. I've had to verify my account AND address before I could use my card(s)
They put something like 30p on your card and next to it is a 4 digit code and they also send you a 4 digit code to your address.
I'd rather spend the extra £100 and get 12 month warranty as well... You could also try your local trade-it or equivilant...0 -

£26 sounds like some sort of transfer fees to me.
Was the transfer to a foreign account? Could be the bank charging for a foreign payment.
I have even seen instances where banks still charge a CHAPS fee for same day uk-uk bank transfers too. Even though they shouldn't because all uk-uk transfers are now same day (have been for some years).
Best to follow up with them. ime, banks take the plss at every available opportunity.
As for the OP, you do have limited protection from the bank. If you did get scammed, you could report it to your bank, but it's unlikely you'd ever see anything back
He says he's been selling them for a long time now, and drops hints that hes a fairly big company, so how come the only way you can pay is by bank transfer. Dosent sound like any company I've ever dealt with.
If he needs an accountant to handle all these transactions, I'd be expecting him to provide a company bank account (not a personal one), I'd also be expecting him to require some sort of reference on your payment so that he can identify it.0 -
Just go to Computer Exchange or something similar, or buy a new one from a proper place.
It doesn't sound right, he's only given you a mobile number for a start. "i never let anyone down as you may tell friends i supply these" just doesn't sound right. And the Paypal excuse is nonsense.0 -
Okay cheers guys will leave it, i sent him an email about his excuse for paypal
Taff0 -
yeah best to leave it, my gut instinct is it's one of those that you want to be genuine, and you hope and hope its going to be, but you know deep down something seems amiss
If something's worth having, its worth paying a couple of extra pounds for0 -
I think paypal would have taken the loss if the credit card was fake because it's their responsibility to check - So that excuse is total BS.
Bank transfers are all on you - you provide the account details, the bank puts the money in the account you specified. End of. No purchase protection or anything like that.http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg

Perhaps he no longer has a paypal account because they gave him the boot for being a con artistFig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

Sounds very dodgy, I certainly wouldn't do it.
Plus, isn't the iPhone 3G pretty old spec now? There are two newer models.0 -
where did u see this advert then pr find about it and if selling bulk that much and has an account then then he should be able to do transactions via most secure mean not just bank transfere is that how he conducts his business with other via bank transefere.
If in doubt then i wouldnt go ahead as much as tempting it is. Have you looked on Amazon for iphones? as im after the 3gs one soon and most likey where i get my from and your protected if goes wrong too or its turns out to be dodgy which is most unlikely or Ebay but there for phones be bit more carefull as can get dodgy ones.
Hope HelpsI don't have a bike addiction problem.....bikes seems to have a problem with me.....it just can't seem to stay on.

July 7th at 10:27 Mark as SpamHi,
Well basically they used a stolen one it seems, As paypal tried rectifying, but i lost money and stock pal.
I am a very honest person and not here to mess around or indeed commit a crime.
Bank payment is safe and traceable, as long as you kept all my info and evidence you made a payment then you are covered, Its 24 hour delivery no bs,no waiting or a refund, simple as that.
I have sold for a very long time, also paypal fees are quite high and for a wholesaler it wipes away quite abit of profit, i dont make much as it is on these pal.
Let me know, please text me or call.
Thanks.

Anyone who calls me "pal" during any kind of business immediately has the proceedings terminated.0
