you are slap bang in the middle of loads of fantastic climbs.....get up some of them!!! or move house :P
Buckstones Rd, Huddersfield rd, Halifax Rd - Blackstone Edge, Cragg Vale, Burnley Rd, Bacup rd, Tod Rd, Holmforth Rd, Holme Moss, Chunal, Edenfield Rd, Ashworth Valley. Saddleworth moors. List not exhaustive.
What kind of distance you looking at?0 -
This image shows the most prominant hills in the area:

So head south-west for a flat ride. There's really nothing flat if you go north. Over time, you'll probably grow to love the great climbs you have up there though.
If you go down to one of the Manchester Wheelers rides leaving from Didsbury, they'll be more than happy to show you a few good routes down south of Manchester.0 -

Done Buckstones and Denshaw > Newhey, Huddersfield Road Oldham, Rippinden Road to Grains.
Looking at 40-50 mile so far, Did the Mcr Blackpool last Sunday but time is my biggest problem regarding longer rides.0 -
Ashworth Valley is a cracking intro to getting some climbing under your belt. Lovely reward of long downhill after too if you head back towards Bury/Bolton then just loop your way back home.0
