Guys,
bought a 2nd hand one recently, the rear wheel does not seem to run "true" but I have no noises coming from disc, either when on or off it. Are the hub bearings likely to be shot?
The guy I bought it from is 17 stone and loved doing bunnyhops etc!!!

The rim trueness has no bearing on what the disc is doing.

Can you explain in more detail the problem?

    I try,
If you watch the wheel when riding, it appears to be wobbling, from the hub outwards.

If there is no play in the hub, then it could be that the wheel simply needs truing.

Or it could be that the tyre isn't seated. I would take the tyre off, fit the wheel and spin it - does it still look to wobble? If not, refit tyyre carefully.

    Cheers bud,
I bought it for my son, dont want him having a fall because of it.
But it looks like the whole wheel is out of line, not just the tyre, so I doubt its that.
Will follow your advice anyway, as its at my home, and Im working away, my old brain might be at it!

if it was wobbling from the hub outwards then the disc would rub.

Hold a pen on a chainstay and get it to touch the rim and spin the wheel. does the rim move sideways?

    Yes? the wheel need truing.
No? then fit the tyre correctly.
