Just about to upgrade my chainset and before taking thing apart thought I should ask if i am going to need any special tools ???
I have large spanners / wrench but not sure if i need anything else as have seen there are tools to lock bottom bracket etc and not sure what i need.
Thanks in advance.

What chainset and BB have you got and what are you replacing it with? Are you fitting a new BB? Are you changing the front mech?0

I am changing from Campag Athena to Super Record, i have basically bought the new chainset and bb cups, was not planning on changing BB or front mech.

Your mention of BB cups indicates that you've got an ultra-torque BB. I'm not up to speed on Campag groupsets but does Athena have an ultra-torque BB? I know the new 11 speed Athena does but I'm assuming yours is an old 10 speed setup. If it doesn't then you'll need a BB tool to get the old BB out. If it does then you could just leave the BB cups where they are and just change the chainset.
You will need a spanner for the new BB cups. I've got a Pedro one that fits on a 1/2" drive. You'll also need a tool to undo the bolt at the middle of the crank spindle. It's Campag tool UT-BB110 and costs less than £10. Everything else can be done with a standard allen key set.0 -

Ian,
My Bianchi Infinito comes next week (thanks for the advice about the bike and epic). I wondered how you got on with the Athena setup and what difference the upgrade will make .0
