Playing Chicken

Apologies if anyone else has already started a thread on this.

The new hazard on my daily commute takes the form of people on BMXs who like to play chicken. The first time this happened I thought it was just careless, and due to lack of observation on their part. Now it's happened twice it's obvious that there are people who try to engineer a near miss when they see someone approaching. Both times were the same, they left the pavement to ride towards me on my side of the road, then swerve away at the last possible moment.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a national trend? What's the best way to deal with these people?

This D-Lock thing is beyond passé.

How about a frame pump filled with water? Reckon that would pack a bit of a punch. Improved reach too.

Frame pump would take to long to engage

i'd recommend a water bottle filled with appropriate solution of acid

I reckon a sudden burst of acceleration and a maniacal cackle would do the job just as effectively.
