    Soundtrack sort of sucks.
Admittedly that is the wides and smoothest "singletrack" I've ever seen, it is fast though
I do like the perspective from where the camera was mounted
  • and i thought whinlatter was fairly groomed

Agreed, its very smooth, but it is graded blue. Our weekly club rides (DVATC.CO.UK) are in the peak district, so to ride up in glentress is a welcome change, especially for the bikes :D .

Might only be blue but that descent is one of the funnest sections of trail about, dont know anyone who has ridden it who hasnt liked it no matter what the skill level of the rider!

Yup, that's one of 2 descents, the blue is mint but a little wider, mostly pretty smooth (the first section is very new so not even run it, the whole trail's relatively new so in good shape overall, was built to very high standards). I love that very first bit, little drop, 2 fast berms, short straight, tabletop... Lovely. Super smooth and unchallenging really but it's a flat out rush. And then the jumps etc of Good Game to boot.

Yeah definitely, we hit this bit of trail when me and some other guys went up the other month, it's not technically challenging, but it's a lot of fun!

I had this running next to Follow Me bike park section on my TV and I have to say a) pedal more b) jump the f*cking jumps and c) ride like you enjoy it.

Whenever I watch a video of riding it all looks static, lacking energy and doesnt make me believe there is anything other than braking going on - a trail centre ride should be pedalling pumping, jumping and manualling not cruising braking - you drive miles to ride these trails - f*cking ride them!

PS Sorry - I have just come back from the Moors and realise how lame my local rides are.

sorry we aren't going hard enough for you, but that was after 3 days of riding and drinking :D
ps - if you fancy putting an entry into this years sleepless in the saddle 24 hour race, i'm sure some of us could give you a bit of stiff competition.

Enjoyed watching that. Would my bike (Spec Rockhopper) be ok doing jumps like that. Doesn't look much but just wondering? Would the idea be to land with rear tyre first having lifted front on launch?

    Great vid!

love the quality, its rare i'll sit through an entire vid as quality usually sucks.

How long is the climb back to the top?

That looks bloody good fun! Silky smooth, with plenty of little jumps - it looks like you could get plenty of speed up there. I like the crossroads bit too.

I wouldn't have used AndrewWK for the music though - perhaps Bliss by Muse or All My Life by the Foo Fighters in my humble opinion

Good vid that. The glentress blue is definitely great fun. We rode it after a few days of doing Glentress red/black and Innerleithen, fancied something short for a change and a bit of a rest - it was well worth it. Not technical at all, just great, flat out fun.
My only complaint (and it's a small one) was that some of the berms didn't seem to continue round long enough.

There is no excuse for sloppy riding

As for Sleepless - no thanks, I ride for fun not for torture.

I ride for fun but always seem to get pressured into these stupid 24 hr things. This year i have managed to get into a less serious team though.

Glad most folk like the video.Theres afew on my youtube channel if you care to look.
ps suggestions for backing tracks is always welcomed.
  • Just watched the clip !

Certainly looks smooth, fast and flowing,
i,ve not been to Glentress for about 4 years, no doubt its changed in that ammount of time !

Definately worth a trip back up the road to get that one ticked off !

    Great vid! :D

I love that last piece of blue route. As others have said, it's not challenging, but by that stage of the trail, you've either done the full black or full red anyway and had your fun. The last blue run is just a sheer 'put the hammer down' kinda run. Nice & fast, flowing trail all the way. I normally take the right fork and continue on the red/black return route back to the car park, but I did take the left fork a few weeks back and stuck to the blue. Some great jumps going down there and I was always completely oblivious to it being there. After completing the red & black route, I ALWAYS take the climb back up to Buzzards Nest again just to do the blue route back down - it's great to finish off with.

    Love it! :D

No bother. The bigger jumps (always on the "up" side of the trail on Good Game) can boost you higher than you'd think to look at them but any decent mtb will be fine, I did it a few times on my old Kraken frinstance and the hub's hire bikes seem to manage too.

Cheers, I was hoping so but just wondered if that was the reason some of the guys on the video didn't want to 'jump'. It seemed pretty tame to me and aslong as I know bike can do it then I would happily doi that. Thinking about, my wheels probably get more hits from the rocks I ride over while going down hill - started to go a bit faster now I have adjusted the rebound.

the main reason for missing some jumps was i wanted close footage of my mates infront of me and, although it may not look as though i'm very close to their back wheel i can assure you i am, its very difficult to ride quite fast when you cant see whats coming up. I'll obviously have to try harder with my next video, 1/ better sound track
    2/ faster, rougher trail
    3/ do more jumps.
    I think thats it...... :?
PS i'm uploading one now :D (see Glentress 2 on here later today  )

Oh sorry for the insult. I forgot I had watched two videos on here. This one AND the one I thought I was referring to when I typed this (bit that insults you) where some guys stopped and got off before a jump then slipped and fell over. My fault - sorry.
I think the same answers applies - yes I can and should do 1ft drops on Spec Rockhopper. Not sure now lol....
