  • nice bike, if you want to go down in travel these are highly recommended and within budget

or there are these at 140mm but i think that is to much for the frames geometry

I have an older handjob that I run with 100mm forks. The geometry hasnt changed and mine is sweet at 100mm.

With a £300.00 budget Reba SLs are your best bet and will save you around a pound in weight over the Marzocchis.

Weight realy isnt an issue but i dont want to go lower looking at 130mm forks rarther than 100mm forks.

Im a realy heavy rider so going lighter isnt an option as ive found with the rims.
they were not strong enough hence the EX721 on the rear and the front is going to be the same.

Ive heard that u can run 140mm forks if the axle to crown height is correct but not sure what this measurment is ?

I'd go for these then - lower them for long climbs to stop the front wandering then crank them up for the downs - I have them on my Heckler and they are pretty decent. If you are heavy you may need to upgrade the spring though, mine bob quite a bit.

the stiffest spring is extra firm, most forks come with firm or medium, so are you sure he's on the stiffest spring?

I'd get an RS Tora 130mm U-Turn and get an extra firm spring from TFTuned - having a word with them first, of course.

Yeah he had to buy it from tf tune himself as hes quite big like me.

Still looking into the axle to crown length of forks as this may mean i can run 140mm forks but struggling to find a list of forks with the axle to crown lenghts

you could run 140mm travel forks but you'd likely invalidate the Cove frame warranty - so you'd need to email them and sound them out about it telling them you're a large-un. Or you could just buy a 140mm U-Turn fork and run it up to 130mm and have done with it.

fork axle to crown length is measured along the direct line from the fork crown to the centre of the front hub. so what someone is getting at is you could have 140mmm travel fork that is still only the same length as a standard RockShox 130mm (fully extended) fork. Therefore not taking the frame geometry beyond the designed and recommended limit.

just find a 140mm rockshox U-Turn fork within your budget and run it at 130mm. Or a fork that can be internally adjusted and set to the frame limit.

    Thanks for the info blister.

Ive heard that some rockshox can be adjusted internaly anyone know witch ones ?

Also i was thinking that if i set the correct sag the forks they would sit lower than 140mm probably around 120mm so would that be ok or not or would that still void my warrenty as its still a 140mm fork ?

Most forks that have u turn and are air springs arnt realy in my budget unless i buy secand hand witch i dont realy want to do.

I was also looking at just replacing my forks with something better but keeping the travel and was looking at some Rock Shox RECON Race would i see a improvement over my current forks ?

So sorry for all the hassle and again im realy gratefull for the replies

this should really be in the buying section, supersonic knows all the ins and outs of this stuff. Start a new thread in the buying section titled something like "Big Bloke and Forks" and make sure you put a link to this thread and explain the detail is here.
