Hi all,

I'm thinking of doing this ride, it will be my first charity ride and the distance is 60 miles, i'll be riding a 2010 Allez Sport, which i've had since last year.

As this is my first ride of this sort, I just wanted to know from anyone out there who had ridden it before, what to expect from it?

Or if your going to ride this for the first time, what sort of a time are you aiming for? I'm aiming to do it non stop and i'm hoping for a time around 4 hours 30 minutes! I'm a long way of Tour de France standard!

Done it a few years back, nice route and good facilities at the finish. Not that much in the way of hills of course. Have fun, cos that's what it's about ....... it's not about being the fastest at all.

Seriously considering it now you have brought it to my attention!!

Would be a nice preamble to the Bristol 100 that I hope to do also!

I'll be riding it with my mate Matt. As a warm up I cycled back from my parents in Hertfordshire to mine in Essex yesterday. 56 miles in 3 hrs 9. I am using it as a tester to see if I can get ready to enter the Essex 100 in the first weekend of September.

If anyone is doing it and fancies meeting up creating a small group, look out for someone on a Trek 5200 wearing baggy shorts giving me a load of grief for being in my Liquigas team kit

Me and two pals done the London to Southend last year.

We done it in 4 hours 30min on our MTBs taking it really easy as one of the lads had never cycled more than 15 miles in one trip before. Really good day out, a nice ride, apart from a very strong head wind coming into Southend and decent facilities at the end.

Hill-wise, there's nothing really huge but there are a couple of leg warmers dotted about...

Check out what I plotted from my 405, which should give you some idea: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/9176374

I'm doing it. Still no ride nmber or pack but that won't stop me - especially living 10 mins from Viccy Park!

If you google it, you can find the route. Looks like headwind will be back on the way into Southend but otherwise fine and dry.

A great route, nice countryside and gentle rolling hills. Not sure about not stopping; you might want to refill your bottles at least if it does warm up!

Just registered for the ride today, but they said that it was too late to send me the ride pack and that I should pick it up at the start. Could someone tell what it includes as I don't usually ride with a backpack on my road bike. Thanks

You probably know, but maybe worth a mention, that not one penny of your entry fee goes to charity.

A bit late but if you want a GPX you can get one I put up on bikely last year (not sure if the route is exactly the same though as they changed the end of the route last year (this is my 4th year doing it). Again very late but I have a train ticket for the 6:30 from southend vic to stratfod if any wants it. PM me and we'll out how I can get it to you
