I was there today Popette and the signs are still up to say that the road is closed, although I didn't actually try and go that way. (I went into the Goyt Valley from top of Long Hill and up to Pym Chair . God it was steep at the bottom!)

18%? No wonder I felt so bad going up it! I hadn't been up in that direction before. I felt a bit lousy anyway and that just sealed my belief that I was going backwards in my training! I had no idea it was 18% tho, and perhaps I should feel pleased that I got up without stopping (or toppling over - at one point I was down to 5.8kph). I went early today - left home just after 7am.

Went out through the Goyt Valley on Wdnesday. We ignored the signs saying road closed to all, even Cyclists and Pedestrians. When we got to the closure, we attempted to get through by throwing our bikes on shoulders and climbing through all the rubble, it was not easy. I would definately recommend avoiding.

We got a ticking off from the security guard, but asked him how long it is to be closed and he said 3 months!!

    Hope this helps.
