i suggest a two match ban so he misses the final, robbed ghana of a sure place in the semi's a disgrace to football and has ruined the rest of the world cup for the entire continent, well done that dick'ed

that has to be the best match of the competition for me, it was properly exciting i thought.

i loved the action at the goal mouth in the last couple of seconds, the jostling, the attempts, the foul then the missed penalty, proper heart in your mouth stuff.

gutted for ghana in the end.

agreed it was a good game, but again a game has been ruined by a complete tw@, only this time a dirty player, not a referee

Another loophole in the rules of football. I understand a penalty being given for a foul in the box etx but a deliberate handball on the line with no one else in the way he should be sent off and the goal given for me! In rugby if a foul of that sort of magnitude is committed when a player is clean though a penalty try is given.
  • Yes it's a foul and a straight red card, ban etc.

BUT. Put yourself in his shoes. Last second before penalties, Ghana going to score, you would throw anything in front of that ball!

So what if you get sent off? It avoided certain defeat and kept his country in it!

Lo and behold, Uruguay went on to win and I bet Suarez is idolised back in Uruguay for his save.

Amazing stuff and to see a nation of 3 million people reach the semi final these days is simply awesome (then again we are talking about the most successful national team in terms of wins per population size of all time).

As for you moaners I'll simply say this. Had it been your countries player who was in that position and they didn't handle the ball to at least give your side a chance you'd have the rage on big time. Justice was done in the sense that the free kick that led to goal was never a freekick (Ghanian threw himself down with no touch whatsoever) and I won't even mention the stonewall penalty on Sebastian Abreu by John Pantsil in first half of extra time.

One last thing. I expect the stupidly biased coverage when England is on but Ghana? Tyldsley was really getting on my tits. At one point he was even saying that Ghana were "Were the last English speaking country" left in. If that wasn't the most pathetic attempt to bring England into this I don't know what is

Anyhoo wife had a few tears of happiness and now doesn't mind what happens in the semi. Bring on the dutch!

Imagine if that had been the Germans who saved a dead cert England goal by handling on the goal line, then went on to win on penalties

I'd love to give that little sheepscunt a proper kicking... tha match was Ghana's all day long!
  • Apparently it wasn't Ghana's match. It seems that Uruguay actually won, and there's only one statistic that matters - the final score.

the uraguyan fella did the right thing, no question, we would all have done the same i am sure, his nation is through and if he hadnt done what he did, his nation had no chance at all.

still sucks for ghana but seeing as i am english and not african or south american, im not too fussed about who had got through, i was rooting for ghana ( ) but ghana were given a penalty for the foul in the goal mouth which they failed to capitalise on, then they didnt score as many penalties so as much as i would have liked to see them go through, it all ended up alright in the end.

    properly brilliant match though.

I see Fifa might extend Suarez's ban for the handball. I wonder if Thierry Henry's handball against Ireland will get looked at again? Then again it's Thierry Henry and you can't use TV replays to judge anything.

Fifa are proper counts (without the "o")
