Llandegla today

I know not everyone likes Llandegla but if it's on your door step and you've got a lunch hour spare for a lap it's not too bad.
But today was a very sad day for me at Llandegla
The forest workers without telling One Planet have taken out the only thing that was left that was a bit of a challenge.
They've killed off the Log Shore forever
Roll on the new stuff when it opens

that used to cross the stream? are they ripping it all up0

I think they had started the bypass when we went last time... hopefully they'll replace it with something a bit more fun?
The layers of chicken wire on there was pretty dangerous if you fell off tbh!0 -
without it though i'd be slip central and even more chance of coming off in first place surely?0

This happened last week, or maybe the week before. When I was there, there were a couple of guys doing something at the other end, but I didn't stop to ask. was just relieved I didn't have to ride it.
Have they taken the other end out too, I wonder. Perhapse some of you might rise to the challenge and ride it the other way, jumping off the end?? OO-er missis.0 -

Its is great fun, worth a 2hr drive when I can't be arsed doing much climbing0 -
Pah sterile at low speed maybe ! Its great fun if you really give it some on the downs0

I rather enjoyed that little bit of shore. Beats boring fireroad.
I also believe I have a video somewhere of you falling off it Ben0 -

Yes, they have done the same at the other end as well0 -
Oh, I really liked that.
Was a great place to teach some useful techniques to new riders who'd come to degla with me.0 -

I always wondered why so many people fall off on that section.0 -

Are we tallking about that long bit of shore that takes forever to get some speed up and shakes the hell out of you ? I hated it :P0 -

Seriously though, it's one of those places thathaving the right technique makes it easy.0 -
Good job they got rid of that bridge. There were trolls beneath it.0

A shame that they've got rid of that - although it wasn't to everyone's taste, it added a bit of variety to an otherwise dull bit of Degla.
I like it there, but this makes it a bit more sterile...Early Orange 5, Felt Z85, Scott Thicko, modified Giant full suss (both nicked)- beat-up single-speed rigid 1992 Saracen (scrapped), and various 2-wheelers with big engines0 -
They will probably reinstate it when the land drains have been finished. It looks like work in progress.0

It was horrible, stop starty, uphill and just not right. There are better alternatives to chicken wire too. We've had a lot of success with split planks rather than sawn planks. People still fall off mind but not as many. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
it was great, you just had to know how to ride it!0
-
I wouldn't say it was "great".... it was better than riding on a flat toe path, but thats about it.0

stumpyjon
Ive ridden Gisburn. I agree that those split planks are excellent to ride on providing sure grip !
Mind u that was in the desert like conditions we are having right now what are they like in the wet covered in mud ?
P.S.
Excellent place to ride mate "WELL DONE"0 -
Still OK. Ed Oxley even reckons they're fine even with frost on them. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
