Provisional Racing License

A quick question if I may.
I recently took out a BCF silver membership with a provisional racing license as I plan to do a few races from August til the end of the season. I figured this was the best way to test the water again after a 15 yr race break.
Apart from not qualifying for points on my license, is there any other benefit in taking out a full racing license now rather than waiting til the start of next season when I plan to be fully up to speed again?

If your not expecting to place highly to get points then wait till January as I think licences have to be renewed every Jan regardless of when you buy it during the previous 12 months.0

Depends on what races you plan to enter - if only Regional C/C+ circuit races then you don't need a Day Licence with a BC SIlver membership.
If you are entering Regional B races (Cat 3/4 road race) then you'll have to buy a Day Licence as well which I think is £5 a time with a BC Silver membership.
Not sure if it's still the case, but racing licence (but not the BC membership itself) used to be half price after 1st July.0 -

+1 I have a document from BC with the "tariffs" and restrictions as I wasn't sure before I entered the easter classic at castle combe. Tell you what it's all a bit bureaucratic, why can't we have either a license or no license, meaning you can race or no you cant race.0 -
