I'm looking on Halfords site for the Carrera fury 16" 09 model but it doesn't say which year it is, it also has different color and forks, brakes so my guess is its not and in the description it goes on about ladies bikes but in the title it says its a mens bike so yeah I'm confused.
Is this meant to be the same as the 18" and 20" 09 fury's and if not can somone link the right one because i cant find it on the site have they sold out or something?
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... 65499#dtab
It also says its got the same awards as the 18", 20" 09 models which is why i thought it might be the same bike
the what mountain bike awards
best bike under £600 and
what mountain bike winner

Search for the carrera fury in this forum, there are at least 3 threads where its mentioned.
Supersonic (from memory) thinks the special offer 16" is an 08 bike, hence the Tora's, still a darn good buy at the price but the Tora isn't as good as the latest Epicon (air) and is heavier, also the latest bike has better (well considered better!) brakes, its probably worth the extra money, but if your budget is £400 and the 16" fits you its the best VFM you'll get, and at a push you could reframe it for a total spend of about £50 (Handsome dog, £60, 320 on sundries and sell the fury frame for £30) into a bigger frame if you wanted, still be the best bike you'd get for sub £450!

IIRC the previous (08?) Fury was Grey.
The spec on this bike is certainly different from the 09 model (White, Epicons, Juicy's etc)
The price kind of suggests it's an older model too.0 -
So have they stopped selling the 16" 09 Carrera fury? or just temporarily ran out if any one knows it would be useful :P and also a link for it if there is one would be nice cheers.0

Gawd knows? :?
Seems funny that it doesn't appear on the site, even if just to say "Out of Stock".
Is / Was there even an 09 16" option to start with?
A trip to your local Halfrauds is in order me thinks.0 -
Yeah It this months what mountain bike it states that its sold in 16,18,20 but they should obviously have it on the site if it exists lol but I'm stuck trying to find it maybe I will have to head down there unless some on these forums know the answer.
But thanks for you time and efforts much appreciated.
thanks guys0 -
When I was looking at bikes from Halfords I vaguely recall them not having specific year models. Specs may change from time to time, but there is no such thing as a 2008, 2009 or 2010 ‘model’.Planet X Kaffenback 2

Hello, they had a 2008 Fury in my local Halfords, that was a dark grey colour with Tora forks. My Fury which i believe is a 2009 is a white frame with the Epicon. When i asked about the grey one they ony had a 16" which was the display one, and that the white one was the replacement, hope this helps, regards Damian.Current Bike - 1992 Saracen Tufftrax Elite - Now retired !!

That is the 08 model in both the picture and described spec.
It's definitely very good value. In regard to the post above, having used both I much prefer the tektro auriga's to the juicy 3's.0 -
I have also been considering this fury.
From what I gather it is an older model (from 08 ). Probably why's its about £150 cheaper than the current (09) fury, which is over £500.
I'm going to pop into my local halfrauds this weekend as they have stock going by the stock check on line. If it fits me (being a 16") then it could be a good buy, although only thing putting me off is all the stories I have been reading regarding halfrauds crap building/after sales
I hate looking for a new bike lol.0 -
Halfords sell about 1 in 4 of every bike sold in this country, they are a big company, of course there will be bad stories, but very few people post up the good ones!
How well the bike is assemebled will depend very much on who does it, if you post on here you should know enough to check it out!

thats the last (09) bike, not the latest one... its left over stock in the smaller size... i would get it. The spec is a bit better than the new one... a tad heavyer due to th forks... but the forks are better overall, and the rest of the spec is much nicer, although the brakes in theory are better on the newer one, the tektro's are actually much better.
get it.I like bikes and stuff0 -
The latest Fury is the 2009 - it has Epicons.
The one with Toras is the 2007.5 or just 2008.0 -
Mate is looking for a bike and this is a bargain, he was after an 18" bike though.
What do you reckon the max height a person could be to still feel right on the 16" (Roughly, I know it depends on the person, etc...)Mongoose Tyax Super 2008 with just a few upgrades...0 -
As you say, it dpends, is no way of giving a max.0

Why do they not sell the latest 'Epicon' Fury in a 16" frame though? Seems odd, especially as the frames seem to measure up quite big. Unless they just have no stock so have taken it off the website altogether. Or they are trying to flog off the old 08 version 16" frames first....0 -
Not sure to be honest. I'd email Halfords.0

Well, popped to my local Halfrauds today. They actually had 2x 16" and 1x 18" Fury's.
The 18" seemed ideal for me, didn't try the 16" as they had the 18" and that seemed fine.
I asked about price as in store it's about £110 more than on the web. The guy said they can usually just do it in store for the same as the web price. Or failing that I can just oder it on line and reserve it, then pay the cheaper price and go pick it up in store.
So, now I'm very tempted as it seems to be a nice bike for the £'s. The only thing is they literally have the bikes which are on display instore and thats it, no more in stock, although the guy did say if I want one and they run out they can have a bike delivered from another store providing they have the stock obviously.
Only thing I did notice on a couple of bikes in store is that certain things were not 100% i.e. some of the brakes didn't work too well and they are a bit dirty and I noticed the odd little mark here and there.
I'm probably being really picky here but I would assume they would sort things out before handing the bike over (I kinda need working brakes lol) and I guess they won't stay scratch/mark free for long anyway.
So what you all reckon, get one ordered??? Or avoid and wait for a new model to come down in price?0
