Random discovery of the evening

I keep my bikes in the living room, and sometimes, when I'm bored, wipe and lube the moving parts.

Anyway, today I accidentally got fragments of black, oily crud on the cream-coloured carpet -- and ground them in as BLACK STAINS trying to scrub them out with a carpet cleaner spray.

Disaster! The Landlord won't be pleased :x

Then I discovered that the BLACK STAINS come right out when sprayed with WD-40 (!)

Good as new! (nearly) :D

Anyone else got a random discovery they'd like to share?

Yes WD 40 can be useful, but I wouldn't want to be breathing in it's
    vapours in my living room.

WD-40 also gets wax crayon off of wall paper.

My little girl drew all over my computer room wall with wax crayon. My wife, being the super efficient woman she is went on line and found the answer - WD-40. Wax crayon gone. 3 days later I get home from work and there is felt tip pen all over my computer room wall. I called my little girl to me and asked her why she had drawn all over the wall again, after she'd been told it was wrong, and especially why had she done it in pen? Her reply was, "Well you cleaned it off the first time". I couldn't fault her logic and didn't have the heart to tell her off.

Baby wipes are very effective at removing Hammerite, from shoes, skin etc (don't ask!) - quite a scary discovery really, what do they put in those wipes?!!

WD-40 is really good at silencing squeaky door hinges. Who'dve thunk it?

If yoiu left the spuds boil dry you don't need to drain the water from the saucepan, if you catch it at the right time they don't get burnt either.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Indeed, but leave them long enough and they can catch fire and you can end up with a cracked ceramic hob.....and no it wasn't me!

Until recently the seats in the Bentley Arnage still used the frames from Series2 Landrovers....

Left pedal clicking a bit when I put the power down - took the spanner to it - tightened by about one eighth of a turn - noise stopped :)
