front mech for tiagra shifters

A front mech question but for tourists.
What front mech do I need fo Tiagra 3x9 shifters using an MTB (LX) chainset.
Will an MTB one work or do I need a road triple.
Has anyone tried using Tiagra with MTB front mechs?

    MTB front mechs require more cable pull than the road shifters provide, so you'll need to use a road triple mech. Probably better to use a 105 as these are designed for a slightly smaller outer ring and front difference than Ultegra/Dura-Ace, i.e., 50x39T rather than 52x39T.
