Different brakes & want to swap wheels??

I have two bikes, one with Elixir & one with Hayes 9 brakes.

If i upgrade the rotor on both wheels to the same size and purchase the correct brake mounting adapter will this work?

I'm just a little worried having two different rotors, Hayes G3 and Avid (both 185mm) and then living on each others brakes.

Anyone else run a similar setup or run a mixed rotor and brake combination?

as long as the adaptors are for the same sized discs then no issues other than centring the calipers.
