Deore Triple to Single

hey guys. i have a deore triple crankset. i never use the big or little ring, so was just gonna ditch them, but i have no money, so is that possible with this chainset?

    Yeah, no bother. Just unbolt the inner ring completely for one. When you remove the big ring (or middle, whichever it is you want to lose) you'll probably find that the bolts won't tighten up as they're too long, so if that's the case you'll want either shorter bolts or some spacers (£10-ish either way or find some washers the right size). But if you want to do it on absolutely zero budget you can, just cut up the leftover ring- the 4 "stubs" where it bolted to the crankset can be recycled into crank spacers.

    yes but you will need to shorten the female chainring bolts.

    I used some cheap M12 washers (about 5p each) and ground off one side so they would sit on the spider and used unmolested bolts.

    Use the front mech (without cable/shifter) locked off on the stops as a cheap chain guide.

    and would that then mean, i dont need to do anything different with the bolts, thats just a straight swap with the big ring?
