Hi all,

First pictures of lapierre 2011 bikes were published on some links:
http://www.vtt-mtb.com/pages/Gamme_VTT_ ... 28111.html
http://www.velovert.com/information/274 ... x-modeles-

It concerns full suspension bikes (DH, froggy, Spicy, Zesty) and 1 hardtail (Rapt).

My question is about zesty & spicy.. as bikes do not change a lot, do you think it's a better idea to buy a 2010 bike with a huge promotion or do the innovation (?) provided with 2011 bikes (new fox..) are enough to buy it at real prices ?

Thx

Q.

I'm in a similar situation, was looking at a Zesty 514 but the prices have hacked up so much in the last couple of years it's a joke.

With the increase in VAT plus introduction of 10 speed I can see prices only getter bigger.

Keep an eye on the sale have noticed some cracking deals on the Meta 5.5's already.

I think you will be hard pushed to find a discounted Zesty 2010. They seem to be pretty much sold out.

Must say the 2011 bikes look damn good. I should'nt of been looking at them really as I've just bought a new bike today!

Then it seems like most weeks you read that someones had a zesty crack at the bottom bracket or chainstay and Lapierre paint is rubbish
I'd go cube or canyon specifically canyon, they are much nicer bikes and are wayy better equiped than Lapierres

I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.

Have they got any info on the specs of these bikes?

Not liking the styling of them at all. All a bit fussy. :)

It looks as though the 2011 versions have moved to tapered headtubes and forks. I've not had any experience of them but they are supposed to be stiffer and therefore better (It's the future!!! ). I don't know how much the new coating on the Fox forks affects the suspension - again I imagine it will be an improvement but I couldn't tell you how much. The latter in particular is how much you believe the hype.

It's hard to say whether it's worth buying now without knowing next years pricing. I'd imagine that next years model will be significantly more expensive though, particularly with the 2.5% extra VAT we'll have to pay. You'd definately get a better deal going for a 2010 sale bike (especially if you look outside of just LaPierre's) but it's whether you really *need* the newest and best LaPierre...

I'll assume you are probably one of those people who want the newest and best (fair enough IMHO) AND like the LaPierre over other bikes. If you can justify it to yourself it's fair game, but given you are asking questions on here you're obviously fighting with your concious a bit... Unfortunately we can't make a decision for you, but personally I'd leave it for now and wait to find out what next years pricing is. At the end of the day at least you are making an informed decision that way - if you buy one now then find out next years model is £50 more you might be a bit gutted when you look at the aforementioned upgrades. If the 2010 LaPierre's sell out and you decide you want one too late it's not the end of the world - there's a lot of very good bikes out there that will be reduced in the sales. As long as you have a bike it's not like you cannot go out and have a good time after all!

Personally I picked up a 314 Zesty at the end of 2009 once I found out what the price hikes were going to be (plus I preferred the older paintscheme 8) ). I didn't get much of a deal on it as they are in demand bikes and any bike shops will sell out of stock without discounts (particularly if next years models are increased in price) BUT I did miss out on the £250 price hike for the 2010 bike so it's all relative, particualrly as it would have moved the bike out of my price range. It's what I wanted and I'm very happy with it. The only thing I'd say is that if you are considering a 2010 bike you'd be best test riding one now so that, if you do decide you want one, you are in a position to move quickly to purchase.

having seen the whole range, the 914 looks pretty good, the 714 looks alright, but the specs on some models have been dropped drastically, particularly the 516, which only gets an slx group next year, which for a bike costing over 3 grand is plain rediculous imo, especially considering you are getting a rather generic frame rather than a swanky boutique frame. there wont be any deals on 2010 models, pretty much everything has been sold, zesty and spicy wise, and a shop has no reason to drop the price if it will probably sell at retail in the same week. they have been very popular this year, infact i rode one at rutland water and i was told i was the first person to ride one that hast bought it the same day

as for the VAT issue the OP is in france so im guessing its not an issue for him, but for the rest of us, the VAT rise happens january 1st and the bikes will be released long before then, so imagine a few of the big stores, evans leisure lakes etc will keep the prices the same after the rise, this happened when VAT went back up to 17.5% after a while at 15%.

Not being funny but what does the bike brand have to do with how many chains you go through?

I've got a 2010 Zesty 514 and it's a lovely bike. Safe to say the BB hasn't "broke" and the paint work is lovely. Still on my first chain too, amazing :)

I`ve got a few bits of paint missing, that happens when you stack it on a rock garden though!
2011 look similar to 2010 models, spicy 914 looks nice though
    It`s changed a bit since...
