Hello all...
My dilema is this, I have a Specilised Allez Sport which i purchased from Evans on the Ride2work scheme (i really must do that one day..!) anyway i love it and have got the bug big time riding 3/4 times a week..
The specilaised spec is as follows
Frame: Specialized Allez A1 Premium aluminium
Fork: Allez carbon
Front Derailleur: Shimano Sora Rear Derailleur: Shimano Sora Shifters
Chainset: Shimano Sora Chainrings
Front Brake: Shimano Sora Rear Brake: Shimano Sora Brake Levers: Shimano Sora STI, flight deck compatible
Handlebars: Specialized Comp Ergo
Stem: Specialized Elite-Set
Rims: Alex S500, aluminium
Front Tyre: Specialized Mondo Sport, 700x23c
Rear Tyre: Specialized Mondo Sport, 700x23c
Saddle: Body Geometry Rival road
Weight: Weight for 56cm Version - 20lb 9oz / 9.34kg
I'm looking to upgrade this but not sure where to start, can I have suggestions of the top 3 things to make this bike lighter and faster and what i should get...my budget would be approx £400 for upgrade
Or should I trade this in and get a totally new bike? Budget for this would be approx £1600, i could stretch to £2000 for the right bike but i'd want something that by comparision would make a little wee come up as I'm blasting around the back lanes..!!!!
cheers

Okay cool, thanks..i think i want a shiny new one also, as much as I love the old spesh..
I'm thinking of Specialised Tarmac Comp or Cannondale Carbon Six special edition, i can't get either till autumn due to ride2work scheme dates so by then the updated six and the 2011 Spesh's will be available and hopefully reviewed by then...my only concern with both of them is that (i think) they both still come with shimano 105....is that an issue? thats purely based on me feeling that i ought to get the best (and newest) groupset i can afford but maybe other factors are more important???

nothing wrong with 105. from what i've read/ heard the performance is the same as ultrega its just slightly heavier, i doubt you'd even notice the difference unless you want to tell people you've got ultrega"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0

+1 on get a new bike .... I have had an Allez Elite (with 105) since the beginning of 2005. It's been ridden pretty hard for the last 2 years (about 6,000km in that time) and I've upgraded/replaced: the cranks, the wheels, the tyres, the saddle, the chain and cassette, the seat, the handlebars and the stem. After all that and as much as I've loved it - it's probably only a 1kg lighter and it rides better .... but a new bike would have been better still - sadly, I've not had the cash to go that far. I still really like the bike - but I'm definitely hankering for something lighter .... and new and shinyMy cycling blog: http://girodilento.com/0
