Hi there,

hope you can help me.

I've got my old mountain bike from out of the shed and it's been in there for probably 15 years.

The tyres have perished so I've got some new ones, also some new brake pads but the bike doesn't really wanna stop.

I'm guessing that the cables will need replacing to be able to get their 'bite' back

I don't really know what sort of cables I'll need - can any one point me in the right direction?

The bike is fitted a suntour groupset (circ 1993) would this make a difference?

The gears seem to work out, but they are pretty stiff - would it be a case of just lubing or shuold I look to also replace the cables.

The gearlevers are also Suntour, they are not any sort of sti or rapid fire - they are good old bar top levers

Cheers,

Dru

you will need some brake inners and outers and the same for the gears which are different to the brake.

use the old outers to cut the new to the correct length.

    cheers,

would they just be generic brake and gear cables?
