Hi guys,

As per title really, has anyone bought from Superstar Components when the item was out of stock, did it get sent to you once it came back into stock automatically or did you have to chase them up to send your order?

Cheers,

Not stricly relevant, but bought something that was supposedly in stock, paid, and then got a despatch note. 8 days later I'd received nothing at which point I contacted them to be told that the item had never been in stock in the first place, and I was given a refund.

I bought out of stock. Took about a week to get stock and the parts came then. Email them to see when they expect delivery.

brought some grip lock rings in red and they just refunded the money :?
  • Hello,

With our out of stock products the time depends on the item, because everything is manufactured for us the lead time can be up to 4 months, so if its just gone out of stock and there is 3 months to run before we get the items in stock again we send a refund to save your order getting lost or people getting unhappy. Also sometimes this happens when we have sold all of a particular colour on a discontinued line.

We are not like other shops, as we cannot just order a couple more in from a distributor. This is why we offer much better prices on high quality parts, but on the other hand it causes some headaches for us with getting our forecasting right. To give you an idea on our next delivery we have 2500 rims, 2500 hubs, 35000 packs of brake pads and a stack of other stuff. It has taken over a month to get here by sea and we are desperate to get the wheel builds underway as soon as possible. I know we have plenty of people patiently waiting, but unless you want to pay 800% more on the shipping costs by air freighting it all over its going to take a bit of time.

We're re-doing our website over summer, it'll look a bit different, be easier to use and stock levels will be automatically updated, so you will know when you order if it's gone out of stock (not after you order). At the moment if we have 10 pairs of red pedals in the warehouse, and 14 people order them over a weekend, only the first ten get them. With the new site, as soon as those ten orders have been made the stock will set to zero - easier for us and clearer for you.

Best thing to do is drop us an email at contact@superstarcomponents.com and we can advise on what is happening with the item you are after.

Any questions please let me know, Neil

    Current times:

Grips and lockrings - end of August
Chainrings - not sure currently - we're trying to find a new manufacturer.
S1 sintered - soon hopefully! (A new tool is being made for these, to improve fit)
Wheels and hubs - this week!
  • Thanks SSC for the decent reply :D

I'm looking at the 10mm QR rear axle lever in red(due 1st July) I was hoping to order now so its here asap and so that I don't forget to order it in time either. What say you Mr SSC?

    Thanks all :D
  • It should be in the wheel and hub container coming this week. Just order it and we will hold the order until it's here, then pack and post ASAP - if you order it now it should be posted by Friday. If it's late... blame UK customs!

Superstar you need more RED STUFF, disc rotors, chain rings, oh and the locks on for your grips in red too please I had to order black for the time being  So to sum up, red stuff
  • We have lots of red stuff but it seems to sell out too quick. We are putting more red quantity on all our orders now to keep up with demand.

Keep an eye on the website, lots of stuff coming in soon!

I would just like to say that I had never heard of or seen this company (not their fault) BUT that reply would give me great confidence in using the company. Clearly someone who understands customer service and a great deal more.

Compare that reply against that company in Buxton that either lets the kid out of school send the disgruntled emails OR the boss himself is clueless when it comes to keeping customers.

    Well done Neil.

    Hi Neil,

I've placed the order as you advised and I have just got an email to advise that the item has been dispatched? This email is very misleading, if I didn't know that it wasn't due in til the 1st I would be expecting a delivery? Is this something thats going to change on the new stock system?

    Thanks again,

Sorry to hijack this thread but Neil if your back on here, could you let me know which identifier pads to get for my Giant MPH Root brakes.

You have some on ebay which are quoting S2 - think this may be the identifier but not clear on your online shop ?

EDIT: just phoned them and got an answer on this - Giant MPH ROOT pads are S2 identifier. Ordered a pair of organic to give them a try.
