hi everyone i was involved in a crash yesterday and i want to know if what i done is standard and road legal...
woman reverses out from the shop starts driving baring in mind she was only doing about 8 MPH and i was going at 15MPH BUT i was on the left hand side so i moved the right hand side to overtake as undertaking is illegal and dangerous and then she turns into me! indicating after she started turning! i tried avoiding it by going as wide as possible but road furniture was preventing me from doing so.. i went down pretty hard i have damaged my shoulder and now i have a appointment to see a specialist about a ligament in my right knee
i have to stay of my bike for weeks now..
any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated
she said she saw me also before she started turning...
police are involved and my dad is saying i should go down to the solicters..

So she had pulled out, and started accelerating in front of you, you pulled out and overtook, but she then went to turn right whilst you were overtaking, knocking you off?
She should have checked her mirrors tbh, but i'm not sure whether i'm right with the story.0 -
the pay off from your claim will keep you in unabashed luxury until your dying day?
frankly just expect the worst from other road users all the time out there and from time to time expect to be caught out... but if you really put the thinking in for others you might just survive in better order. My pen won't write on the screen0 -

No it's simple mate, if she would have checked her mirrors we wouldn't be having this conversation.

sounds to me you should of waiting and made sure she knew you were there. That's what i would of done, even if it meant tapping the car.LOL road riding.0

If she reversed from the shop into the highway, she is at fault in that alone.
Your dad is right. You should see a lawyer. If you sustained injury through her incompetence, and are unable to pursue your interest as a cyclist as a result, then it is fitting that you should receive compensation.0 -
She hit you - she didn't check her mirrors ir blind spot before turning - so her fault.
That said - I'd have been a bit cautious and half expected that - I'd rather avoid any incidents.
Call alyson france at bikeline tomorrow and get photos of all you scratches to yourself and kit too. It'll take time, but worth doing.0 -
She was the one pulling into traffic, the fact that she says she say you makes her even more culpable.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

It probably means that you were in the blind spot, not too much either of you can do about that, newer cars have huge blindspots because of the increased size of the pillars
I proabaly wouldn't have overtaken, but that's me, its a difficult call whether to slow or go past. I'm on the discresion side, mostly
As long as you are ok, in the end, that's the main thing.Richard
