Had a good day fettling with bikes in every way

The Felt AM's Truativ GXP BB has been creaking, so it's in need of replacement. I took a brisk walk to Swinnerton Cycles in Fenton and got me a Fat Spanner GXP BB tool, a bargain at only £9.99 plus over and above the generous handle, it also has a 1/2 inch cutout so you can attach it a torque wrench! Also got some Finish Line Citrus Degreaser and some Avid Code brake pads, genuine Avid items that even come with a spare circlip for the brake pin.
I discovered that the Firex GXP cranks are self extracting with compliments of a how to video on YouTube. I didn't buy a spare GXP BB as I wanted to check the condition of mine first. As suspected, it's shagged again, I had one replaced exactly a year ago. Will pick one up at Cannock tomorrow.

I also did the brakes and yes the bikes all ready to roll for round 3 of Raymond vs. Monkey Trail tomorrow, even with a squeaky BB, but with peace of mind

I started to strip the Kona down and forgot about the BB tool, so Jay12 you also score some RaceFace cranks with a brand new [expensive] BB, it also has a brand new headset too. I'll PM you in the week about it.. I sooo need the space.

All in a good night, I am well chuffed with my fettling skillz. I am getting there

thats awesome :D . thanks so much
  • I also had a good days fettling.

    1. Removed a thorn from my front tyre.

    2. Put a patch on the front tube.

    3. Couldn't be bothered to wait for it to dry so took my FR bike out instead and caned it downhill.

My idea of a good days fettling!

Worked 9-6 today, then out for a ride at bedgebury with my mate after wards. They've repaired loads of the trails, but unfortunately this means they've blitzed it with gravel, making some of the faster runs completely dangerous at the moment, as wheels just wash out. Bit of a shame, but so long as it wears in again, I'll be happy. I've been looking into bluebell hill tonight, about an hour away from me, but looks promising!

Might order my joplin3 in a few too, damn crc wishlists!
  • Screw the wishlists! Just bang it straight into the basket then straight onto the plastic! 8)
