Bike Insurance - no serial number

Hi
I bought a second hand bike off ebay from a reputable seller. When I came to insure it with my insurance company they wanted a serial number. I could not find one in the obvious place (bb area) so contacted the bike shop it was originally built by (this a steel columbus bike built up by the shop). They recommended the rear drop outs..no success there either.
So my question is does anyone know of an insurance company who will sell a policy without a frame/serial number?
Thanks

What bike is it? I bet it has a frame number somewhere, unless its very cheap it seems daft for the manufacturer not to want to be able to check batches and frames for defects before leaving the factory.
  • Its from Sigma.built from Columbus Brain tubing..they have been helpful but I still have no number. the only place left is under the chain protector on the frame but I doubt its under there!
