Hi Guys

Had a bit of an issue today.

Have some factory built hope hoops on ZTR flow rims.. I was running a kenda Nevagal 2.35 wire bead tyre with tube.
Coming down the twirch xc trail at a reasonable pace and did a 6 inch drop onto some loose stuff on a slight turn and felt the wheel give. I held on for dear life and left the trail to the grass and wondered what the hell happened.
Looked down and my wheel was buckled to the point that it was unsafe to carry on.
Rode down to the car park to change the wheel.
Fork was plush..was dry and no reason to taco.
I weight 19 st but had no problems with crossmax's or previous wheels.
The rim just seemed to give...the wheel has less than 200 miles on it and I am looking for advice.
If i had hit a tree or dropped off 6 feet onto it i would expect it.
This just seemed to give.
Anyone else had any issues with them?
I am a bit of a hope fanboy and I dont wanna go tearing into them for the sake of it but it wasn't your usual " TACO" moment
Cheers in advance

mad andy

Give them a ring, see what they say.

I run Hope Hoops with Flows but I got them from Wheelpro, and Roger tweaks the wheels before sending them out. Whether that makes any actual difference I have no clue but it's a good set of parts so if it's built halfway decently it should be strong. My own have been flawless, fort william and laggan and allsorts inbetween and they're scraped and dinged but straight as the day I got them,

Roger is an expert wheel builder, one of the best in the business. Even the best parts will fail if not built to a high standard. Makes a big difference in my experience.

Yup, what I mean is that I can't judge the standard of the Hope Hoops, I don't know whether he just puts a couple of tiny tweaks on them or if he goes to town. But either way, mine are bloody brilliant.

    cheers guys...
If you look as this vid ..where it happened was at 0.40...i luckily went through the trees and just caught my bar end on a tree..could have been a moody moment.

..nothing that should have taco'd a wheel

Not, not at all, the wheel would have already been knackered by then most likely, probably very loose tension.

    Did you break any spokes?[/quote]

I did a spoke and bolt check before I went up there mate..

everything seemed ok..bit of a rear pivot creak thats about it..

it was dry and rocky today but they have been as good as gold up till today.
I didnt expect to be getting a rebuild so soon.
I went with the stans because of the width and strength rather than the mavic or the ex500 dt swiss....i err on the side of caution due to my weight...

my XC bike is a 2006 enduro with 150mm travel and decent wheels.
use a fox 32 fork up front and saint brakes as well.
prefer to go for durability rather than weight weenie

Can't rule out some production flaw either. Really it's all just conjecture til you speak to Hope
