depends on your budget, but I would spend £150 on that right away for some cleat pedals and shoes

Wiliers: Cento Uno/Superleggera R and Zero 7. Bianchi Infinito CV and Oltre XR2
  • How much have you got to spend?
Allez 16 - bad weather / turbo trainer
Tarmac Expert SL3 - test colours
Dogma 2 - ex Team Sky

    No it's a piece of sh1te.

    This, among others, is a good starter bike;

The reason you didn't get a direct response is because people want to probe to find out use, budget etc etc to try and suggest what's best for you. That bike is decked out with all really basic gear which will be heavy and may not last too well. :)

Whether or not it's a good bike depends on how much you are spending.

Place an advert on the 'wanted' section and see if you get any joy. Sometimes you have to be cautious of buying used but the majority of people on here look after their bikes well. The advantage of buying a decent secondhand bike is you can always sell it on if you decide it is not for you and will not lose a huge amount of money.

300 quid if he's buying new....

To be fair i'd probably go for that over the Carrera Halfords jobbie but then at that price point pre-loved all the way imo 8)

Oh yes and don't forget IMO

Swap it over to a DA groupset with some Zipps on and it wouldnt be too bad...

Only playing, for £300 I would be looking at pre-loved (I say this, not 2nd hand as most people on here treat hteir bikes better than partners!)

I got this bike a few days a go. Although I've never had anything else to compare it to, I am very happy with what I got. Im upgrading the pedals and tyres, and I feel I've got myself a cracking first road bike.

    Hi coco69,

I can give you some input on this; I bought this bike a fair while ago because it got a reaaaly good deal on it. I was new to cycling and it looked OK to my ignorant cycling eyes!

However, I was pleased with it when it came, as anyone would be with a new steed. After a whille problems began to niggle me, the groupset isn't great and it's heavy, For a first bike on a budget, not wanting to buy new I liked it.

To make the bike better I upgraded the saddle, stem, bar tape, tyres (the kendas on it aren't great but did me for a few hundered miles) forks, wheels and soon, groupset. Actually, pretty uch it all apart from the bars and frame! This has taken time but has been worth it. The bike did me fine for a few months while I was getting into the sport, and I enjoyed it. I'd in heinseight buy second hand or save longer. I chose to upgrade mine and not buy something else because I like fettling with stuff to be honest! I hope this has helped.

Excellent! I'd reccomend it to someone if they fancy a challenge upgrading in the future.

You should have stipulated the answer you wanted to your question then!!

If it is oly any good if you upgrade it then i would say it is not a good starter bike.

Halfords get some bad press but plenty of choice here and many of them do get a decent review but again depends on budget etc which is why people were asking.
