Nice forum.
I am looking to return to road cycling.Although not new to road racing/ training it is 20 years since I last owned a road bike.
I grew up around road racing ,time trials and come from a family of famous cyclists, Morley cc, most of them are dead now...aunty Beryl Burton was the first to go.So my knowledge is not lacking but bikes have moved on a great deal in this timespan.
My first bike was a Baines Flying gate which I raced on but mainly used for touring.
I am wondering where to start? Which bikes best suit my needs on the present market.
I want a bike that will be good enough to train up towards time trialing but also be a useful all day tourer.
Any advice is gratefully accepted.I have no preference over frame ,carbon ally or steel but have a budget of about a grand.
I am not going to reach the heady heights of yesteryear and my fun now is mountaineering and long distance hiking but I would like to dip my toe back in the water and see whats there.
