Hi guys when using the big chainring (and almost anything on the rear casset) the chain kind of catches some how and pulls the rear derailer forward once every few turns for a split second then the deralier pops back to where it should be, ideas?

Could be a stiff link in the chain.

Seems strange it would only happen on the big ring though so it probably isnt that

inspect the chain at the point the mech moves.

also check the rear mech settings and alignment.

Worn chain ring? Or bent tooth? Could be snagging the chain on the damaged bit and pulling until tension releases it again?

Or the stiff chain link but again that would effect it in every chainring.

    bent tooth?

Would be my guess. Have a close look at your chainring teeth.

Ok when looking at it you need to see the frequency.as that will tell you where to look.

cranks will be a regular problem with each revolution, chain issues will be a different frequency but still regular. etc...

    have fun.

also check there is no crap on the chain/cassette/cog before starting.
