Pedalling up the hill. Chain goes into the spokes (new X-9 mech, grrr!). Try to unclip. Fail. Tumbling down the hill clutching at grass still attached to bike. Rage.
That's it. I've given SPDs their chance a few times now. They are shite. Minimal benefits are much outweighed by potential for smashed in face and I can't even get loose in the corners or ride north shore.
Flat pedals all the way for me now. 8)

I've had the same experience, but managed to dive into a hedge :P I've not put mine on my new bike, and to be honest, I don't miss lying in bed thinking "what if I hadn't unclipped in time?"0

SPD's might work for pro's, and they sure do work on my roadie, but just not on my mtb's...
I'll stick with my flatties too 8)
Plus, they look cooler! 8)

Wasn't in Harrogate, was in Guisburn. On the climb just after where you ford the two streams. Luckily no one saw. Must have been watching the soccerball. Anyone want to buy a used set of shimano dx shoes and candy c pedals? :P0

Not too bad a climb, just epic gear fail. Was cursing Mr SRAM at the time.0

I've seen too many people keel, flats for me every time, i dont like the idea of being attatched to something I'm going to throw down a tricky terrain0

I found myself deliberately unclipped on descents using the mid of my foot on the pedal. Would be better of with my lovely, beautiful, awesome Kona Wah Wahs under my feet. Lush. 8)0

I'm so used to being clipped in now that I ride a lot better attached. Unclipping and clipping in isn't a problem at all since I got used to road pedals in heavy stop-start traffic (that was terrifying at first), so I love my clipless pedals.0

would it surprise anyone if I said I preferred flats?0

Which is better? Clipless or Flats?0

I can't ride with flats. I did try when I first got the Coiler, but didn't feel comfortable and my pedalling becomes much less efficient - I pull up on the pedals as well as push down.0 -
/\ What he said.
SPD's are for winners. Flats, erm, arent.Advocate of disc brakes.0 -
