Where did you get the orange hope stuff? Or did it get sent to an anodiser?

Cheers, most of the Hope bits (and others) were custom anodised. EDIT - Rotors and pedal caps couldn't be done so I sprayed with car paint!
I remembered an old thread on here somewhere where a forum member got some bits anodised green. I searched and found it and on the thread he gave the email address of the chap who did this for him. stevebarry1978@hotmail.com
I dropped him a quick email to see if he could do something similar for me. He was really quick to reply and also extremely helpful. I sent the bits last Wednesday, he anodised them on Thursday and I received them on Friday. Top service :D and really cheap to boot!
After my interest, he also posted a topic on here explaining what he can do and giving his contact details, but it disappeared fairly quickly. I appreciate that it probably fell foul of forum rules on advertising, but the guy also provided some interesting info on the process and materials used. Shame really!

Looks great, just like your other bikes, so what will you be using this bike for? DJ?

    What's your next project?

Thanks :) I'm gonna use the bike for Extreme XC (well, exteme for me anyway  ), 4X and the odd jump or two. My Son is gonna use it too, he's 12 and starting to come out with me more and more at the moment. He thinks it looks cool, but I'm not sure he really appreciates the quality of the parts! He just rides and is not remotely interested in how components work or how to bike build.
No other projects. Spent out I'm afraid. My missus will have my b0llox in a jar on the mantlepiece if another frame turns up on the doorstep!

Very very nice - loving it!!!! 8)

Makes me laugh though - I thought this was supposed to be a little 'project' involving old bits and pieces, and yet again you've turned it into another superbike :lol::lol::D

    Thanks
I know what you mean - spent more than I would have liked, although in fairness I did save a bit with the 'old' bits. Also, don't forget the frame was purchased 2nd hand. I did try to spec some other parts 2nd hand (brakes for instance), but my impatience got the better of me waiting for items to become available on the 2nd hand market, so I just ordered at the cheapest possible prices online.

    I like bikes and stuff
  • you have so many nice bikes
does the man who did the anodizing have a website
I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.

    Cheers Lapierre

The guy doesn't have a website as far as I know. Just drop him an email, he always replied quickly. He'll do pretty much any aluminium only part in a selection of colours regardless of current finish.

    Quick update.

Been out on a 4X track on the weekend. Sanchez is brill, I'm crap!

On a couple of heavy landings the back wheel became misaligned so I'm fitting these when they arrive in the post next week.

No not all four of them, just a pair of the gold/orange ones!

It's a chain tensioner made by Genetic. They are used primarily for single speed jump bikes (and BMX) to adjust the back wheel, for and aft, to get the right chain tension. They also stop the wheel coming forwards (or out of alignment) when stomping on the pedals. This sometimes happens on horizontal or track dropouts.

Another method to stop this is to convert the rear hub to bolt thru and to do the bolts up really tight. But as mine is qr I'm getting these to try and stop the misalignment. Hope it works!

My hub was right up against the end of the dropout, but still didn't stop it misaligning on heavy landings.

That's all right. I didn't know about these things untill I got the Sanchez frame with track dropouts. I don't even know if they'll work on my bike - anybody?

    Track chain tensioner/tug fitted.

One on each side. Hopefully will stop the rear wheel moving in the dropouts.
