Heard a good radio prog by Nenah Cherry about Brenda. She was Nelson Mandelas niece.

Strange character; Rebel, married her girlfriend, died of an OD.

Would like to get a CD, but which one?
Something with a good mix of her style, which was almost Madonna and African mixed.

Any recommendations of a few to get?
Ta.

Try Memeza or Too Late for Mama (more poppy) or any of the earlier stuff - Brenda and the bIg Dudes.
Or there was a greatest hits - probably more what you want.
    Not related to Mandela though.
    I don't do smileys.

There is no secret ingredient - Kung Fu Panda

Nope not related to Mandela at all. When she was in the band Joy they had a cracking hit called "Paradise Road"
She was Africa's largest selling female vocalist, you'd find her records (tapes actually) in record shops right throughout Africa
She died poor as she'd a bad habit with the crack cocaine. There were rumours that the Nigerian drug dealers had tainted her fix as she owed them a fortune.
A sad end to an African music legend.

Best place to find her CDs are on Kalahari.net
Remember the exchange rate is circa R11:£1

Thanks guys. I'll get on the case.

Just listened to "Sunshine Reggae, Fathers day prezy.

All the 20 tracks - some great classic ska, blue beat, ragga, dance hall, lovers rock - ( See, I'm 53 and down wiv dur Yoofs!! ) have been used on various TV adverts/movies.

Confused with the Mandela connection, but...it was apparently something SHE used to try to impress/influence people with.
    Shame bout her habit/demise.
What IS IT with Fame that screws people up?

Balls of steel apparently. What a girl !!!

Splottboy, off the back of this old Thread, I picked up a few Brenda Fassie CDs at the airport on Sunday night.
The ones I have are: "Best of Brenda and the Big Dudes" (2 CD Set) and "The Queen of African Pop, Brenda Fassie 1964-2004"
So, please PM me and we'll make arrangements to get these over to you :¬)

I banned him for trolling a while back, not sure if it was while you were away or not. I think it was before that.
