I am staying here for a week in August

Cwrt-y-Cadno, Cynwyl Gaeo, Carmarthenshire SA19, UK

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Cwrt+Y+Cadno&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=35.609055,78.837891&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Cwrt-y-Cadno,+Cynwyl+Gaeo,+United+Kingdom&ll=52.080666,-3.909931&spn=0.071525,0.15398&t=h&z=13

I'll be taking my MTB.... can anyone suggest some good places to ride in the area?
I don't mind driving up to 90 minutes to get to a good spot.

Cheers All

Your very near to brechfa there. Ive only ridden there once and found it had some very good sections but they werent linked together very well. But other people rave about it so maybe its just me :)

my mate rode the gorlech at brechfa last week and said it was awsome and another mate of mine says brechfa is his favourite 'trail centre'. i know that rowan sorrell and his crew worked hard there to make it more fun and flowy so it might've changed since you went top? :D

i'd reccommend you checking it out anyway :D

Brechfa is good and not just the marked trails - there's a lot of good natural riding in the Forest. Its worth just exploring the forest - it's big so you can ride all day just finding interesting bits of single track or some tricky downhill but not so big that things will ever get Blair Witch!

There is also lots of good riding in the Cambrians just to the North: the Doethie Valley ride esp when it's been dry is great (see http://www.offroadadventures-online.com/rr032.html).

One of my favourite rides starts out at Strata Florida (just to the north of Tregaron and not far from where you're staying) and heads up into the Cambrians - its mostly green lane used by 4X4s and part of the route is, I think, marked on the (pink) OS map as a 'bike route'.

There's also Nant-y-Arian which is a bit further afield not far from Aberystwyth - a waymarked trail centre with routes of varying length which is worth a visit if you have time. It's more suited to a rider with less experience than the red and black at Brechfa (http://www.forestry.gov.uk/bwlchnantyrarian).

I used to live in this area and there is lots of very good XC riding if you know where to go - sadly i dont have any maps or files I can send you.
