Looking for a Hardtail..

Evening people,
I recently sold my pixie blue Cove handjob...doh, as i thought i wouldn't really use it. Now it turns out i miss my hardtail, i have an Orange 5 Pro which i use for all mountain duties and carving up the trails.
I have an urge for a light weight hardtail that i can blast up the hills and leave my mates eating dust but also be able to ride down the other side. It will be mainly used at trail centres on red routes with the odd fling down the Laggan black and maybe to commute on the odd ocassion. The Orange will be used for the heavier duties.
I was looking at the Orange R8 whicj i really like, but i wasn't really wanting to spend that much on a 2nd bike, i also have a huge soft spot for the Cotic soul but again they are pricey to build up. I was looking to spend up to £750 and i am currently looking at a KHS Alite 3000 for £650, this nike has a cracking spec for the cash, and a Voodoo Boker, which again is well specced. I came across a bike company called Canyon bikes the specs on they're bikes is really good for the cash, anybody heard of or ride one of them?
Any views or opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike.
