just wondering, i was planning on riding aston hill in 2 weeks or so, just to try some downhill as ive never done any before.
however is this wise on a hard tail frame? or will it just be stupidly hard and shake my bike to peices?

Depends on what HT it is.0

It's a tough little hardtail and will cope with some of it quite well. If you are smooth and a good rider, give it a go. Of course more travel would help, but I wouldn't say not to try.0

well ill def be staying off the black trail, ill try the xc route and then consider the red run.
worst case scenario ill get my bike off the main line and go down slowly,0 -
The bike will be fine! but will you?

my dad did it on a hardtail
Including the black route which after 1 run really is not as scary as yer first think. Its finding a good line that takes the time.
The full XC route is a leg killer plenty of hill in the upward direction.0 -
I did it on a hard tail i got the x-rays of my broken clavicle to prove it lol
But that was my riding and a wet root that gave me a fast route down
There is or was a good 4x track that was great fun on a hard tail so you'll have a good day out one way or another0 -
would it be worth getting a shorter stem for it? i have a 100mm on it at the moment (17' frame, 6foot 2 tall) or will the 100mm be okay?
i only ask, cause i dont wanna scare myself off downhilling, and whilst i appreciate my bike is hardly made for it, id rather be as well prepared as i can be0
