Spotted on my commute: a LHD fixie. How bizzare!
Must be one of our brothers from the continent visiting, but it got me thinking why we don't see more of these to cater for left-handed cyclist. Surely the argument has got to be that they can get more power down the left?

dont be silly. you can't fit a large hadron collider to a fixie.

Presumably this was a hand powered cycle as it matters not to me as a left handed person which side the chain ring is on, as I do not operate it with my handsWant to know the Spen666 behind the posts?

Maybe it was a road bike. He flew past me and the my memory was not so good. Damn those LHDs.0

You could have a LHD fixie, no problem. Its easy enough to do now, just remember that if you don't do your lock ring tight, you'll spin the cog off everytime you pedal....
I think it would also make it hard to get the cog off too, as you'd be pedalling the cog against the lock ring, thereby forcing the two together. Not sure if this makes sense on paper, but does in my head...jedster wrote:Just off to contemplate my own mortality and inevitable descent into decrepedness.

There are some pics over on velosolo of LHD bikes, not sure if they were just for show or were actually ridden.
To stop the locknut/sprocket issue you could use a respaced front disc hub and mount a sprocket where the disc should go.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
I've seen a picture of a bike with drive on both sides.Bikes, saddles and stuff

I have to say...
I don't much fancy having the disc rotor on the same side as the chain....
doesn't take much chain lube on a rotor to totally ruin your day.....Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.
