2 questions about the National Sportive / Pendle Pedal

Can anyone help with my (elementary) questions about the National Sportive this weekend?

1. How long is the short one? the website variously says 80km, 85km and 90km, some ads say 100km, the downloadable route is 75km.

2. Is it ridden clockwise or anticlockwise? the text description in the rider info pdf is anti clockwise (over to Downham first, Nick o Pendle near the end), but the downloadable route is clockwise (nick o pendle first, climb from Downham last)

    1. Don't know the answer to this because I have done the long route, which this year is about 95 miles - so 12 miles shorter than last year. (But then I did get a little lost last year!). I would expect the short route also to be about 10-12 miles shorter than last year (they have moved the start to Barley so cut out the stretch to and from Barnoldswick). So hopefully towards the shorter of the distances you mention.

    2. Runs anti-clockwise. So Nick of Pendle is towards the end. Save your legs for the end because the "Pendle Pedal" has a tough ending. Last year I thought the Nick of Pendle would be the last serious climb but alas it was not to be. I think the last 10 to 15 miles are tough and make the last 15 miles of the Etape du Dales look like a gentle stroll in the park. But maybe I'm just a big girl's blouse - or am I no longer allowed to use such an expression.

    Good luck

I have been informed by the organisers that it is 85k but do not trust this as you say it is all over the place on the website. I would go by the mapped route which is about 75k. I think it is anticlockwise, Lets hope they get themselves sorted on saturday
