Kirroughtree red
Hi,
This is probably a real beginners question but here goes.
Im off to Kirroughtree again at the weekend.I have been round the blue a few times with no problems and really enjoyed it,how much more difficult is the red route?
Probably pretty subjective and need to do it to find out but basically dont want to be totally out of my depth if its really technical.I love the single track and the few rocky bits of the blue,I can do it in about 2 hours with the extension included and like the sound of more singletrack and a few more rocky sections on the red.My bike is a specialised fsr xc so that should be more than up to the job.In your opinions will I manage the red ok?
Cheers Ross.

The red is quite similar to what I have seen of the blue. It just goes on a bit longer and in some parts probably has a few more rocks and roots about it. Some of the rocks can be a bit lumpy, but generally don't form a drop of more than 8 inches so are easily rollable. Just be careful you don't wander onto the black graded shortcut of Jabberwocky. The great thing about this trail is that it has one of the best endings of a trail I have ever experienced. The Twister and The Last Tango are so much fun that you end up pedalling your legs off and get to the end with a huge grin!0

Thanks for the replys, will do the red on saturday and maybe have a quick run round the blue on sunday as well if I get chance.

I forgot to mention that sometimes it's good to do the red/blue taster loop to warm-up first. Then you can hit the red when your a little more relaxed and awake and it feels less of an effort (not that Kirroughtree is much of a slog).0

Did the red this morning and really enjoyed it although it was noticeably longer than the blue and I was knackered by the end.Did have one decent off though which hurt a lot but gets the fear of the first proper crash out the way I suppose!0
