He done it in top ffs! 50/12!!!! I offered to adjust his limit screws to give him a smaller gear but he said he would just cruise roundNorfolk, who nicked all the hills?

I can remember riders using single speeds in the Cheltenham town centre races back in the seventies; a tight flat track with cobbles on one of the turns meant no time for effective gear changing.
I think a certain number of TdeF riders in the thirties were using 3 speed freewheels without a derailleur. It meant stopping to change gear but no need to turn the wheel.
I didn't know that the UCI had banned fixed in time trials. That condemns me to riding single speed if I don't want to use gears; the FFC certainly ride under UCI rules; UFOLEP may just allow it (or turn a blind eye) unless one did something stupid like winning. Oh fortunate British testers.

After the invention of mountain bikes the biggest worldwide phenomen in cycling is fixed/singlespeed, there needs to be a sport to reflect this, at least something like a fixed or single stage in a tour whether a time trial or a long straight stage or whatever, crits, ss cyclo cross, ss mtb etc.Bikes, saddles and stuff

We've been racing on fixed wheels for over a century - I even did it last night.Cannondale Synapse 105, Giant Defy 3, Giant Omnium, Giant Trance X2, EMC R1.0, Ridgeback Platinum, On One Il Pompino...0 -
Yes, I think it's more important now, in the early 20th century people had to ride fixed (mostly), now they want to by choice.Bikes, saddles and stuff
