Did First century Yesterday!

I did the Do It For Charity 100 miles from Richmond yesterday.
It turned out to be 103.9 miles!
I took 7 hours 8 minutes, plus stops. Probably 8 hours total.
The route was good for me, I'm crap at climbing, very well sign posted, superb catering and all round very well organised. Nice people too
The biggest problem was the cold for the first 50 miles, and also it was quite blustery, so wind proof tops were the order for the first half
I'm nearly 45 years old, I have one leg shorter, and weaker, than the other, I'm very pleased, I'm proud too.
Its not the best supported event, but I think they cater for up to 200, for me, thats better than jostling your way to Brighton.

Nice work Rich Hcp. I'd be chuffed at that if I were you
On the bit about not the best supported event, maybe the timing of it could have been better considering the L2B and they would have had more of a turnout. A couple of weeks on either side of it would help perhaps?
Yesterday on Ditchling Beacon I was amazed at how many "younger guys" and I do mean lots younger than us ( me 44 1/2) were pushing road bikes up the hill.

Thanks guys, maybe the L2B took a few away, but it may have been deliberate to stop over subscription, there is a 50 mile run too and between the two they'll cater for 200 riders and it was a little short of that
I did enjoy it, I'm suprised at that, I was lucky that another rider was about my pace on the flat and she was better up the hills, but I was better going down, so we pulled each other along, its nice to have company too.
Off to the greasy spoon in a bit for a BFO Brekfast!Richard

Well Done mate.
I did a charity ride yesterday but only 40 miles, and looking to build up to 100 later in the autumn or possibly next year depending on how my training goes.
I'm also 45 and quit smoking in Feb after 30 years so my fitness isn't great. I too find hills hard, but didn't push once yesterday which is something to build on.
Any way, well done again!

Well done. Doesn't it make you realise how fit the pros are.The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.0 -
