Has Frank got a new training plan? I've been intrigued by his new found abilities:
winning sprints
winning stages with last minute escapes
posting decent tt times

He appears almost a different person.

Anybody got any thoughts?

Maybe he subscribed to the new 8,000 euro plan.

Frank's always had a kick out of a small bunch.
Winning with a last minute escape is a bit like winning a classic no? Frank ain't too shabby there. Amstel Gold anyone?
His TT was decent, but not monstrous. A bit like the rest of his career.

Not that I've ever seen Frank as squeaky, but this performance doesn't really prove much either way.
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

What could you be implying? I'm sure Bjarne runs a clean shop at csc... :?

Good performance by frank today, but probably less an indication of improved tt ability than of his good overall condition. It did come at the end of nine days racing.

Would you put money on that ??? (Saxo, by the way)
I think he is another Bruyneel and knows his way about and I doubt he has changed his spots.

Have been away the last few days so i dont know if people have already made this comparison in other threads but the tt stage was comparable to the Annecy tt in last year's tour with a climb in.

Despite the climb the specialists filled the first few places. In the tour Frank lost 1:04 to Armstrong while here the difference was only 5 seconds.

Why do you even bother following pro cycling if you have so little faith in it....?

Him and Andy have apparently been doing a lot of TT training with Brad McGee, who is clearly a decent coach.

wasn't that great a TT...short course really with a lump in it...

he won because he rode a good TT for him and the other close guys on GC weren't all that either..

    still he has improved

    what cumulnimbus said really

Great to see fat frank riding well. The prospect of him and andy double teaming contador in the mountains is brilliant.
Would be good to see teams working together against contador, but reckon this will only happen if alberto doesn't build a big lead.

This isn't that new. Schleck has been a classics contender and a decent stage racer for quite some time. Being 1.15 down over 27km is normal, that amounts to 3 minutes in a 50km Tour TT.

He was linked to Fuentes in the past, he has some unanswered questions. But he's not doing anything new.

" a lot of TT training with Brad McGee"

Both Schlecks have done a load of TT work with Bobby Julich. Looks like it's worked a lot better for Frank than for Andy.

I'd trust Riis to run a clean cycling team about as much as I'd trust Gordon Brown to run my household finances....
