Elixir R's or Elixir CR's? Is the difference in price worth?

Is paying the extra for CR's worth it?

depends if the extra features and looks are worth the extra money to you i guess.0

I have the R versions, and I can't say I've ever missed the pad contact adjustment feature or the adjustable banjo bolt that the CR's have, they're all a bit 'side salad', if you know what I mean.0

I've got the R version and would have liked the pad adjustment.....but not for 40 quid extra, hence why i have the Rs0

What about juicy three's? are they any good?0

got r's and never felt need for pad adjustment, so i agree with the above ^^, just putting more people behind that view.0

I went the whole hog and got the CR Mags. I think the pad contact adjustment is a complete gimmick, but the adjustable banjo is quite a good idea, but probably not worth the extra cash.0

The pad adjustment feature is supposed to be more hassle thans its worth from review's i read also i think the CR are heavier than the R's.
I went for the R's for £154 for the pair with 2x G3 160mm rotors thought it was an absolute bargain.0 -
I got the CR for looks. The carbon lever blade feels pretty nice too.
TBH, if I was buying again I'd just get the Elixir 5 - I set reach once and the "C" features aren't really much.0 -
Just got the crs, but only because they were in the avid brakes sale on merlin for £150 and thought I might as well, the price didn't include rotors but already have some and when I get a new wheelset will replace the rotors at the same time.
So far only been on one proper ride and haven't been able to adjust the hose lengths (don't yet have the bleed kit) but they were a huge improvement over my kona fire mountain deluxe's cable discs, much better feel and more powerful even when not completely bedded in.
Brakes are probably overkill compared to the rest of my bike atm but hope to change that in the future, didn't realise I would be doing quite so much cycling when I got it. If I hadn't got them in the sale would have probably got elixir 5s, as there doesn't seem to be much difference in performance.0 -
Don't bother with the Avid bleed kit, it's stupidly expensive. I bought a "not the real artist" kit on ebay from this bloke here.

It's almost exactly the same as the official Avid kit my mate has, but comes with far better instructions, or you could just watch this:

Thanks, unless I find all the individual bits will use that and get a decent sized bottle of dot 5.1, how much do you generally use each time you bleed the brakes?0

Honestly, it takes something like a thimbleful to change your whole system.
Halfords do a wee bottle of DOT 5.1 for about a fiver, it'll be enough to do you for years.0
