You maybe able to convert your rockhopper pretty cheaply by simply adding road tyres, and maybe some bar ends.
Hybrids aren't always lighter.0 -
i was gonna say just put some slicks or semi slicks on your mtb, sorted
i have done on a commuting bike before and you'd be amazed at the difference they make over regular tyres0 -
hi both
yeah i done this 3yrs ago cycled from north to south wales for same charity with my old rockhopper with sliks and bar ends on
mashed everyone uphill but was way down on the straits and downhills was thinking that a hybrid would be quiker?

No reason why it should - though does depend on what type of hybrid and gears.
Some are sportier than others - some are just MTBs with slicks.0 -
Usually the heavier the better on the downs! The other year I was blasting past everyone else going down the Alps on my road bike laden with 30kg of gear strapped to it.
If you really wanted something road specific then you could find a sub £100 road bike on ebay no bother. This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit0
