Tyre dilemma

Here we go
Basically this summer i am doing quite a lot of all day riding up to 65 miles a day- mostly off road however it wont be too demanding downhill- there will also be a few miles on road maybe 15-20 miles a day.
i am looking for a tyre with preferably lower rolling resistance but a good amount of grip for mountain bike trails. i have a maxxis crossmark, just looking for a tyre on the front-people have suggested high rollers but some people say they drag a bit on roads?
anyone got any suggestions?
prefer low rolling resistance to grip, preferably more grip than the crossmarks though...

maxxis advantage or ardent- 2.25 60a folding0

tried the ignitor out-dont really like it to bo honest. JamesBrckmn have you used either advantage or ardent on the road? if so what are they like? which has less rolling resistance?0

Schalbwe Nobbly Nics, good grip off road and pretty low rolling resistance on. Have only ridden about 10 miles on road but they seem ok. Only problem is they are fairly soft which means they will probably wear badly on the road and they are pricey.0

£30 seems too much for a tyre that wears too quick to me.0

In terms of low rolling resistance whilst maintaining decent grip, Conti Twister's are superb; Though they're not massively suitable for rocky environments.0

slight problem with the rocks, has anyone tried the advantages? what do you think of them?0

I'm using an Ardent (2.25, 60a) up front at the moment. Not on tarmac often, but when I need to be it rolls fine. I've had faster rolling tyres on the road, but that's been at the expense of grip off-road. There will be faster rolling tyres for miles on the tarmac, but it's all about compromise. You can usually get away with running a more aggressive tyre on the front on the road anyway.0

I rode the coast to coast on my Zesty, shod with a pair of 2.4 Conti Race Kings with plenty of air in them. Grip was ok off road and they rolled really well on road. For those sorts of miles don't get anything remotely grippy unless you are mega fitCurrently riding - Lapierre Zesty 314, as yet without any bling
New toy - Diamondback Mojito, SS rigid 29er

abc123- i haven't used the advatage, but the ardent was quite fast on roads, and light too- 650g0

Id vote for something like race kings too. Rolling resistance is way more important than grip when you're doing the miles.A Flock of Birds
+ some other bikes.0 -
