It was a pleasant morning
The sun shining and my bike leant against the wall while I ate my breakfast of fruit.
Filled up my water bottles and swung a leg and was on my way through the village.
I picked my line through the s bend avoiding the pot holes and got out the saddle and sprinted to the top.
The car from the opposite direction came towards me and the silver corsa behind me now decided to overtake.
I bounced through the pot holes and managed to avoid the kerb.
At the top of the small hill the silver corsa turned left into a drive way.
Well I had to go and see them!
I waited for them to get out the car.
Wondering what I might find.
A young blonde got out.
Keep practicing, you might pass one day I said.
She looked a little confused, though I could not be sure if this was her usual expression.
Apparantly she cut me up because I was in the road avoiding the potholes.
Then she told me "im a new driver"
Not that I saw any P plates.
I assumed this was some sort of an apology and left her to paint her nails.
What is your crazy story of the week?

    So to paraphrase:

You took a silly line through an S bend to avoid a pothole. A car overtook you. You saw it was a young girl so you stopped and ranted at her. She excused herself and said she was a new driver.

I usually think it's sad when people say this but..this thread is useless without pictures!

No excuse when you want to be around to be an old cyclist.
To err is human, but to make a real balls up takes a super computer.

Similarly, last night car goes to overtake me on a narrowish road. Car coming the other way slams on her brakes and car behind her locks her wheels and slams into the back of the car in front. Overtaking car disappears off up the road (but not before I get his numberplate).

I go back to see if everyone's OK. Both drivers are a bit shaken and one is complaining about her neck so one of the gathering crowd calls an ambulance, then the police. I end up giving a statement. The car behind is wrecked, the car infront is barely scratched (it had a tow bar).

    All exciting stuff.
  • I did not shout at a young girl.
The way the car was being driven I expected a young lad or four.
I was not venting my frustration.
Rather pointing out how dangerous her actions were.
  • Funny you should say that Elgordo.
This road riding is rather new to me.
I dont know how many chose to overtake me on the crest of hills, blind corners or with cars coming towards us.
I sure dont remember driving being this bad years ago.
Though I guess its just the pressure of additional cars on the road.

Ive had a few occasions when after being cut up, I have gone after the driver and found out it is a pretty girl/woman driving. I go a bit sheepish and then tell them they have pretty eyes and "just watch out for us cyclists, ok ? thanks". Can't help it.

on the short route to work there is a bridge over a railway, and the road is pitted in the normal riding position, I always take up the primary position on this bridge, so far always had drivers behaving themselves......
