I guess the sensible answer will be, get it to an LBS, but I would really value the thoughts of those in the know:

My bike has developed a considerable creak (it's a second-hand bike not owned that long) on the down-stroke on either side. I am guessing it is a BB issue and intend to take itr into Brixton Cycles, but would value any opinions out there.

WHat type of BB is it?

Park Tools has a great guide on fixing noises.

Is it definitely the BB - a lot of times an apparent BB creak can come from the saddle...

If its there when you're standing up its definitely the BB though.

    Thanks guys.

Not entirely sure what the bottom bracket is I'm afraid. It's on my Fuji Track that has a Vero crankset.

I have been tempted to have a look myself, but I am not the most practically-minded man in the world and have never taken apart a bottom bracket.
