Hello :D

What sized headset do I need to get? I have both the forks and the frame but i'm not sure what i'm meant to be measuring?

Are they both a standard size? If so what? Or can I look up the sizes???!

HELP PLEASE??!! :?

You need the diameter of the steerer tube. That's the easy bit. Now there is what type of headset is it. Follow the link HERE If you get more questions, scoot on back here.

    If you're bike's 'normal' then it should just be a 1 1/8"

The only real thing to look out for is the stack height being the same or less than your current one - if it's bigger then you could run into trouble.

How 'tall' all the spacers, bearings and races are.

So required stack height in relation to steerer tube of forks =

    Lower bearing race (mm) +

    Headtube length (mm) +

    upper bearing race (mm) +

    spacers (mm) +

    stem stack height (mm)

All of this needs to be 2-4mm above the top of the steerer so you can tension it all.

    It's a 2007 Orange 5 Diva (the ladies model).

I was armed with my tape measure, frame and forks last night and I must admit that i'm still none the wiser

You shouldn't really need to measure anything - but to check you will.

How long is your steerer tube? Right from the bottom at the top of the crown where the race sits to the very top.

Measure the stem height, the head tube on the frame and the spacers that sit under the stem.

Add all the above up. If you look at the box on a headset it'll give you the stack height add this to the above and it should be 2-5mm greater than the length of the steerer tube on the forks. If it is less than you can remove some of the spacers.

Hope this helps a bit more....

According to Orange website (different year but unlikely to be much different)

    http://www.orangebikes.co.uk/2009bikes/ ... del_id=102

    It's a standard 1 1/8" FSA headset

    Specs etc all here.
