The ContourHD is pretty good. Not really used mine much yet, but the tests I've done have surprised me with the quality. Got a week in the pyrenees coming up, so I'll have a more informed opinion after I get back.0

The MUVI cameras seem good value, ok not HD but not expensive either depends what you want it for. I want a set of Muvi front and rear for recording commuting blunders by drivers.0

ContourHD 1080 and the Go Pro Hero HD are probably the best, they're not cheap though. There's non-HD versions of the above that save you a fair bit to. You also need to budget in the mounts and a decent size SD card.0

Go-Pro HD for me!
Here's a video of my mate following me down some DH the other weekend. (Not my cam, but my mates, we share it!)

Good transitions between light and dark, and at 1080p, it's really clear and sharp. Uploading it makes it look no-where near as sharp.
As for the wobbling on the video, the straps wern't done up tight enough on the chest mount.0 -

it depends on your budget really.
for a HD quality the Go Pro HD Helmet Hero Go Pro HD Helmet Hero is good for high quality video.
for under £50 this Sports Action Helmet Camera Sports Action Helmet Head Camera is very good value for money with good video quality and is very robust.
for something in between, the Oregon Scientific ATC 5K Oregon Scientific ATC 5K is tough and water proof and retails for around £140-£150.
amongst my mates and bike club i seen all these 3 helmet cameras up close and in action, and would be happy with all 3 so it depends on your budget.0
