for your analysis....
did not want to post in the other thread in case I crashed peoples browsers.
looks to me like:
-cav is in front
-haussler swerves right (this caused the crash)
-he wouldnt have swerved right if cav would have not touched him
seems this shoulder barging is normal just haussler didnt expect him to appear so quickly.

Looks like Haussler has his head down and not looking where he's going in these pics!0

Interesting. I had this down as Cav's fault, but looking at these images it does suggest that Cav was ahead and then Haussler suddenly swerves toward him (look at the change in alignment of Haussler's bike about 1/3 of teh way through). Hard to be sure, and wouldn't have been an issue if Cav hadn't been on a diagonal line. It does also look like Haussler is staring t his own front wheel, which can't help.0

Looks to me like Cavendish moved across into Haussler's line, got his arm in front of Haussler and continued to lean on him, Haussler tried to hold his line and then was forced completely out of balance as a consequence of having to hold up Cavendish. A classic 'hook' manoeuvre from Cavendish.
The judges seem to have got it right.0 -
Haussler's riding dead straight, Cav cuts into the side of him. How can anyone see this any other way? It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0

Quite interesting frame-by-frame sequence, cheers for posting that.
Something I'd not noticed is Haussler's arm appearing to hold Cavendish, then release as Cavendish falls. Whether holding for balance or pulling, you can't see, the resolution is too low.
I can't recall this level of deconstruction on any previous crash, even Theo Bos & Impey last year, which was far worse.
The intensity of reaction & deep-set nature of that is fascinating.0 -
first i though is was not cav's fault - bias fan sorry. but then it was by looking at the film front on. after seeing from above and these picture i think haussler's fault.
Richrd - was not the Bos crash the last stage thus the riders could not act like self rightous fools0 -
That's the thing with crazy sprint finishes - the bike goes all over the place. It's inevitable that riders are going to clash at times.
If Cav wasn't involved - would this being getting this much attention? I doubt it.0 -
I still like the overhead film which shows Cav swing over to the right quickly and dangerous where Petacchi then gets on his wheel until Cav moves to the center where he has the jump on Haussler who then moves round Ciolek.
He is now getting the large gear to work and Cav sees him coming and almost brings Ciolek down as he cuts further to his left to stop him.
IMO Haussler would have won. (even with my PTP on Cav)
No question, the Jury got it right and today a lot of the peloton wanted to stage a protest against Cavendish.
To whoever it may concern - Cav is not British.
He comes from the Isle of Man which is a protectorate of the Un-United Kingdom and exactly the same status as the Channel Islands, Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands.
He has an Isle of Man Passport and that Island is no more British than the Country of Ireland who all have their own governments.
He is lucky to have a homeland passport as the three Countries of Scotland, Wales and England are not allowed there own passports. !Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720 -

Thanks for posting, interesting stuff - things I noticed:
- HH shoulder barges Cav - look at the orientation of HH's head to the V of his shorts. Initially it's aligned, then he moves his head and shoulders in Cav's direction.
- HH's bike also changes attitude. In the early shots look at his wheels: his front wheel is on *our* right of his back wheel - then it changes - indicating he might have wanted to get closer to Cav?
- Cav's bike is different attitude-wise vs HH and for that matter vs the rest of the sprinters. Line up Cav's helments with all the other helmets and scroll down quickly thru the photos - he's really migrating across - Did he spot a NHS dentist off to his left?
- I still think, and you can see the crucial photo, that they were both sprinting out of phase in terms of swinging their bikes side to side then HH mounts Cav's front wheel in a real life Dukes of Hazzard bike jump.
HH looks a bit more culpable in his final actions, but blame is the wrong thing here - they both really effed up.When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0 -
Heinrich 'Bruce' Haussler is an Aussie German. I like to think of it as Cav's application for English Citizenship0

Just goes to show it was 'one of those things' IMO.0

hmm.... having watched the vid and seen these unfortunately i think that cav did precipitate the accident. He was all over the shop... did sprint diagonal to everyone else at 1 point.
not giving anyone 100% of the blame
is this like last year when cav cut off hushovd at the tour??? (but more disasterous)0
