this has an excellent example of when to use slo-mo at the end. You're not really demonstrating what is good about the brain system, it's about how it isn't always active and responded once 'activated' if you know what i mean.
Try some shot of you pedalling up those lines then have the same track with the camera strapped to your bike to show the suspension working...0 -
I'm fast on downhill like anyone , But I need to get to a center , where the magic happens.
There's a lot of good riding not at trail centres, you appear to have some of it right there for instance... I'm not quite sure what you're expecting to happen if you go to somewhere with some signposts!
Surprised you've stuck at the sport though, well done, I'd be bored to tears by now!0 -
Grow a pair mate and ditch the parents, my son jumps over a bmx ramp on the street and he's only 6.Advocate of disc brakes.0

I'm going to do a video of the brain system in the future , The brain is awesome , This frame climbs much better than my previous frame that had a fox shock on , The spesh shocks are made by fox but spesh tell them what they want doing to it and how to make it.
Can clearly feel how much better the StumpJumpers and S-Works shocks are to standalone Fox shocks.Specialised Carbon Stumpjumper Pro FSR Brain XTR Groupset Fox RL F120

Until they go pop! Then again hopefully they shouldn't do that so often anymore, and Specialized are amazing at sorting them quickly!0

Pop as in what ? the cable wearing out going from the brain to the shock or what ?Specialised Carbon Stumpjumper Pro FSR Brain XTR Groupset Fox RL F120

There's been various problems with them over the years, admittedly more so on Epics than Stumpjumpers, like I said though, they should be fine by now!
Was usually seals going and leaking from the hose to the Brain.0 -
Am I the only one that couldn't really give a flying about this brain thing. Wow it helps you climb. I don't care if I'm slow climbing anyway, it's the gogin down that matters. If I wanted to climb quicker I'd make sure I was riding HT.0
-
That's a really well put together film, well done.
Don't worry about other's comments on your riding, what I saw was a good neutral attack position and plenty of control.
You look like you have some awesome trails right there on your door step.Pick the speed up a little each time you ride and you'll soon be flying down and getting the most out of your bike.
Like the others have said you need a faster shot in the first place before showing a slow mo, although the last one with a water splash was good.
Keep it up and you'll have great fun (which is what this is all about). If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room!0 -
I heard about problems with them , on the 08 model they took a step backwards, I found on one of the models when you bottom them out the hose rubs on the tyre and wears the black hose down a little bit , but they changed the design to stop that.
Mines an 07 model and Can't fault it.
They just needed time and feedback to get things right and they improve the design over time.Specialised Carbon Stumpjumper Pro FSR Brain XTR Groupset Fox RL F120

Depends if you're racing or not I guess, where how quickly you go up the hills is very relevant! HT isn't always quicker either.Mines an 07 model and Can't fault it. Very Happy

So yours is the first generation one...
Incidentally my 2007 Epic was absolutely perfect, it was the 2008 and 2009 ones that went to pot!0 -

Agreed , The 07 Stumpy was the best out of 08 and 09 same with the epics, was going to buy an S-works epic but they didnt have any in an XL so i went with a different bike then down the line I got this as i prefer them to epics as they have more travel on the backSpecialised Carbon Stumpjumper Pro FSR Brain XTR Groupset Fox RL F120

Personally I'd say the redesigned Stumpy in 2008/09 was a far better bike, but it was also a chunk more expensive than the one you've got. None of them seemed to have the same shock issues as the Epic mind.0

The Brain locks the shock out if you stiffen it up , Therfor it's just like a hardtail at climbing but it's slightly heavier but when it detects a bump it opens up to absorb the hit , when you pedal the shock won't compress like most shocks do. Basicly it's better than Pro-pedal dampening assist and pretty much everything out their , I dont understand people that remove the shocks and fit fox shocks when the spesh one is better
Forgot to say it opens the shock in time with no Delay , They tested it with computers with christoph sauserSpecialised Carbon Stumpjumper Pro FSR Brain XTR Groupset Fox RL F120

Yeah I get what it does, I just think it's pointless, unless as stated above, you participate in races.0
-
Pointless is a little extreme, there's plenty of threads asking about lockouts and Pro-Pedal and what not, why not just get a bike that does all that for you, and just works? No levers, no cables, much easier!
I've got a Pro-Pedal shock now, and tend to just race with it on the whole time, very occasionally switch it while I'm riding, after 3 seasons on Epics I'm just not used to having to twiddle levers! Depends on what sort of rider you are really, I never liked the Scott Genius or Spark for that reason, you have to use the TracLoc to make them work to their full potential!0 -

Aye I see what you mean then. But even when I first saw about lockout and pop locs I thought. Basically just un-needed in the majority of cases. A little gimmick added to push sales.0
-
I took the lockout out of my Reba World Cups, and as soon as I get around to it, I'll be taking it out of my SIDs too, personally just don't use it, yet plenty of people see it as a real selling point. Different strokes and that! I do a fair bit of racing too, but have just never seen the need.0
