Does anyone here have experience of taking bikes on the High Speed service?

Being a numpty i travelled on it the other week from St Panc. to Dover and back and forgot to look at the cycle facilities.

I am thinking about doing a London 2 Dover ride on a Saturday this Summer and would like to use this to get me home.

  • I didn't know Southeastern did London-Brighton. I've taken a bike from London to Brighton a couple of times on weekends - I think the last time I was on First Capital Connect - and they were very relaxed about bikes, no problem at all.

But this might help you check the rail company's restrictions : http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/passenger ... yTrain.pdf

Regularly take my bike from Faversham to Dover for work and it's never a problem so long as you're travelling off peak. If you wanna ride with someone with local knowledge then let me know!

Southeastern invested in brand new high speed trains from Japan for its high speed link to St Pancras from Kent, then set about reducing the number of trains to central London from my local station in SE London to make space for it on the lines through London Br, however they've since had to cut the number of high speed services due to lack of interest - the fares were ridiculously expensive, yet they haven't reinstated our local trains.... Grrrr..
